Como valor agregado, el banco no requiere licencias de software especializado para su funcionamiento, esto significa una gran reducción en el costo de propiedad y operación para la institución, ¡un valor agregado clave para la USB!
Bautizado con el número de parte FKL-115, el banco cuenta con tres sistemas interactivos que permiten a los estudiantes experimentar de manera práctica los principios fundamentales de aviónica en un entorno realista:
◾ Sistema de control de alabeo y cabeceo: Los estudiantes pueden manipular los controles para ver en tiempo real los cambios en el Horizonte Artificial y el ADI.
◾ Sistema de cambio de altitud: Simula los efectos de los cambios de presión atmosférica en los instrumentos del avión, como el ADAHRS y el indicador G5.
◾ Sistema de variación de dirección magnética: Muestra cómo el magnetómetro detecta el campo magnético terrestre, visualizando los cambios de rumbo.
Gracias a su diseño robusto con materiales de grado aeronáutico, este banco garantiza fiabilidad, mantenibilidad y seguridad, asegurando una larga vida útil.

The Horizon UAV is an in-house R&D project by FKL. It is a fixed-wing VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), configured as a tilt-rotor tricopter. The structural design is based on additive manufacturing (3D printing), using materials such as LW-PLA and PETG to achieve an optimal balance of low weight, rigidity, and rapid prototyping capability. The design is inherently modular, with detachable wings and a tail boom for easy transport and maintenance. This UAV is not a simple prototype but an advanced engineering development platform, designed to validate a complex and highly reliable systems architecture. Its mission is to serve as the foundation for future long-range (10 km) and high-endurance (1 hour) operations, with a focus on high-definition digital video transmission and advanced autonomous navigation.

We present our new metrology bench! Designed specifically to facilitate the location, support, and controlled movement of thermal cameras (sensors) up to 1500 grams. This bench offers:
Fixed extension: 160 cm on the X-axis.
Vertical movement: Up to 20 cm on the Z-axis.
Movement on the Y-axis: +/- 15 cm.
Equipped with a standard ¼ inch mount to anchor devices like the Fluke Ti-Tripod 2 or equivalent.

As part of a national interest development project, we collaborated in the manufacturing of molds using aeronautical-grade tooling board, a material that offers a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, dimensional stability, and high machinability. We believe these are the first molds made from this material in our country. Additionally, we conducted the proper research to coat the molds with a resin that provides extraordinary performance at high temperatures, offering our client the opportunity to use the molds in an autoclave with certainty.

BVLOS UAVs are becoming increasingly important in aviation, particularly in the defense sector; however, equipment optimization never stops. We offered our engineering capabilities to redesign the engine test stand, adapting to physical constraints, weight limitations, machining ease, rapid assembly and disassembly, as well as easy maintenance on the bench. All of this was done under current operational conditions with the goal of reducing vibrations and opting for a locally manufactured test stand using readily available materials and simple machining. This translates into logistical, operational, and economic savings for the UAV program.

We engineered a custom vibration test bench to perform critical modal analysis on the ART Quimbaya aircraft. This turnkey solution involved integrating sensors, an analyzer, portable equipment, and other hardware into a single, ruggedized case for on-site deployment. The project scope was comprehensive, including custom software development, technical manuals, on-site team training, and the execution of a full modal test. The data generated from this test served as the foundational evidence for multiple certification trials before the designated aeronautical authority (SECAD).
